'Amateurs' Play An Important Role | | | | In
this professional age, it is sometimes forgotten that the majority of sportsmen
and women are amateur in the true sense of the word, playing their chosen sport
for fun and and enjoyment. A success story this past
couple of years has been the introduction of the Pirates 2nds, the mix of youth
and experience now referred to as the 'Amateurs', who play in the Cornwall Merit
Table and are coached by Paul Greaves. The side is captained
by Wayne Davey, with Scott Dugdale, a Penzance & Newlyn RFC committee member,
its driving force. Scott is truly proud to be a 'Pirate',
his father Roger and uncle Peter having played for the club, whilst his son Trevelyan
is also captain of the Colts. | | Pirates
