His
300th. game for us came in October, 1956, when a Graham Paul dropped-goal earned
us a 3-0 victory against Pontypridd. Having appeared regularly for Cornwall
(17 caps), he might well have played, but for injury, in the successful 1957/58
County Championship side. This injury caused him great frustration because he
had again been appointed as our Captain that season. In January, 1959,
he joined Graham Paul up north, where the both played a big part in
Hull Kingston Rovers revival. Returning to the west country in 1967,
he became a deputy headmaster at Sidmouth, where he resided until his death in
2002 at the age of 72 |
