Pirates U17s 12 Wimborne U17s 20 16th March, 2008 Travelling with just 14 players to this South-West National Bowl semi-final match on Sunday, the Pirates competed extremely well at the neutral Ivybridge venue. Their pack was in particularly good form, winning all the loose ball and driving Wimborne back in the scrums, but overall it was inevitable that the Dorset team's numerical advantage would ultimately see them through. The Pirates scored two fine tries in the match, the first for full-back Kelvin James following a weaving break from his own '22' by scrum-half Trevelyan Dugdale, and the second for wing Josh Rule who finished off a fine passing movement with a try in the corner. Okehampton Colts 26 Pirates Colts 5 12th January, 2008 Travelling with just 11 players due to injuries and college commitments, the Pirates were grateful to their hosts for providing a front-row and a scrum-half. This was a match played in great spirit, with open running rugby the order of the day. Centres Josh Semmens and Josh Oliver were in fine form, breaking the gain line with nearly every touch of the ball, and the back-row tackled their hearts out, with big games from Ryan Stanley and Gareth Bodilly. The one try for the Pirates was scored by the guest scrum-half. On Sunday, Josh Oliver and Trevelyan Dugdale played for Cornwall U17s away to Bath, the match drawn 17-all This coming Saturday

December, 2007 This cup match game played on the Mennaye Nurseries field was fast and free flowing from start to finish, despite the poor weather conditions. Lock Jamie Barrett and prop Danny Toolan were two guest players from the U16s, Danny scoring a fine try with a run in from 30 metres. on Friday 14th. December, kick-off at 7.30p.m. Hayle Colts 0 Pirates Colts 58 10th. November, 2007 Forget the one-sided scoreline, this was still a match played in great spirit, the Pirates also lending three players to Hayle to provide all present with a game of rugby. A pleasing aspect for the winners, was that the good work being done in training was clearly there to be seen, the sound line-out work and driving play especially evident. Pirates Colts: Scorers - tries: Cowan-Dickie (3), Dugdale, Mander, Semmens, Oliver, Batten, James; cons: Dugdale (2), James, Cowan-Dickie. Pirates Colts 22 Newquay Colts 5 Saturday 20th. October, 2007 This was an excellent win for the developing Pirates Colts, their young pack outplaying bigger opponents and enabling them to provide the possession which led to two tries being scored by full-back Aaron Hall, and one for wing Josh Rule. Fly-half Kelvin James kicked a penalty and two conversions. Pirates
Colts: Pirates Colts 10 Wadebridge Colts 22 Saturday 13th. October, 2007 The young Pirates played some excellent rugby in the first half to arrive at the interval 10-3 up. Both backs and forwards had linked well, with all of their points scored by fly-half Kelvin James. To their credit, however, the visitors came back strongly in the second half, their replacements making a considerable impact to help turn the game around and prevent the Pirates from scoring again. Pirates Colts: Scorers - try: James; con: James; pen: James. Truro Colts 36 Pirates Colts 15 29th. September, 2007 Despite losing the services of lock Will Maplethorp with a shoulder injury after just a quarter of an hour, the spirited Pirates still led 12-10 at half-time, having scored two tries through prop Gareth Bodilly and wing Aaron Hall, one converted by full-back Kelvin James. Having to play with just 14 men was always likely to take its toll, and although every Pirates player gave their all, it was perhaps no surprise that Truro finished the game strongly to ultimately record a comfortable victory. Pirates Colts: K. James, A. Hall, J. Semmens, J. Oliver, J. Rule, H. Mander, T. Dugdale (capt), G. Pye, T. Cowan-Dickie, K. Trewhella, B. Batchelor, W. Maplethorp, D. Batten, R. Stanley, G. Bodilly. Colts 34 Newquay Colts 21 Competing at Hayle on the Cornwall U18s Cup Finals Day, the Pirates Colts played Newquay in the Shield competition for third and fourth place. At the start the Hornets looked the slightly stronger of the two teams, but playing with immense determination the Pirates began to slowly wear their opponents down.
