Adryan Winnan Signs for Pirates One of Cornwalls
most gifted rugby stars is making a return to his home county, providing exciting
news for Cornish rugby fans. Full-back Adryan Winnan, who has close ties with
the Penryn club and also played for Redruth and Ivybridge College before joining
Saracens as an apprentice in 2001, is the latest quality signing announced by
the Cornish Pirates. Adryan proved himself to be a popular member of the
Saracens team, being their Supporters Player of the Year in 2002, playing
alongside world-class greats such as Tim Horan and Thomas Castaignede. Still just
23 years of age, his rugby these past two seasons has been played at Tarbes in
the south-west of France. A proud Cornishman, who has always appreciated
the support given him by his family, he is the son of Paul Winnan, also a full-back,
who played 53 times for Cornwall (1970-85). Speaking for the Cornish Pirates,
head coach Jim McKay said we are delighted to welcome Adryan on board,
him being a quality player returning to his roots wholl be hungry to achieve
success. | Adryan
