Pirates Sign Jonny Hylton

As the Cornish Pirates near the end of their summer signings in preparation for the 2006/07 season, we can confirm that Jonny Hylton has joined us from Worcester Warriors.

The full-back/wing was a popular and important figure in helping Worcester gain promotion to the Premiership in 2004.

His progress was hampered later in the year when he damaged an anterior knee ligament in a pre-season match against Leinster.

The injury was a major blow for an ambitious performer, who had to wait until the start of last season for his next competitive match.

His chances at Sixways were limited, but a return to fitness enabled him to gain selection into the England 7s squad, his skills in this area to surely suit the wide expansive style of rugby played by the Cornish side

Hylton said “I am looking forward to working in a lovely part of the world, the standard of Division One rugby is improving along with a number of professional teams, and I am focusing on having a good season. I would love to get back into the Premiership.”

On his arrival in Cornwall he was able to meet up with former colleagues Duncan Roke, Matt Evans and Rhodri McAtee, who have all played along side him at Worcester.
